Default td05h-16g or vf34

Hey guys just wanted your opinions on which turbo i should get for an 03 wrx with 3" tbe, 255 walbro, cai, bigger top mount and ecutek. I have the 550cc sti injectors waiting to go on aswell.

which would give more torque and come on early.

was looking at the gtps01($1390) or a vf34($1400-$1500ish) or theres a as new vf34 $800, everything is new bar the turbine wheel as it was damaged in freight so theres a secondhand turbine wheel which has been cleaned, dynamically balanced, assembled and V.S.R balanced(i dont know what all that means). Also has a warranty if its stuffed in anyway i can return for refund.

I've also been told 180kw to 190kw will be the limit on a standard 03 wrx, what are the weak parts that would need to be upgraded if i wanted to go further.

Thanks

Hey,

I managed to make 199.2kw atw on ASG's dyno, on my 03 WRX with the exact same mods as you (+ a silicon intake) with a TD05-16G on 20 pounds. Might be worth while putting a silicon intake on at the same time as the turbo, labour wont be much more if any.

I found that the 16G is a nice little turbo with good midrange and decent top end power for its size. Not too laggy either, mine coming on full boost on 20 pounds at ~3500rpm. If you havnt already discovered them, forums like NASIOC and wrxtuners have alot more info on the 16G than what PerthWRX or rexnet would have, so might be worth checking out feedback from them forums.

When i was looking for a bigger turbo, i was also tossing up between the 16G and VF34 aswell, but i went the 16G because every man and his dog runs a VF34 these days. Also, from what ive read, they seem to be on par with each other, some saying one having a little advantage over the other depending on where you read.

I cant comment on the VF34 as i have never had one equipped on my car, nor have i driven a car with one, to be able to compare.

am i right in saying you will need a diferant up pipe if you get the vf34 as opposed to the td05 ie one being twin scroll.....

me personnaly i would go for the td05 18g nice and strong and good for 350bhp/260kw easily with supporting mods of course

You wont need to change your up pipe, both turbos will fit on the stock pipe no worries.

Im pritty sure both the 16G and VF34 are SINGLE scroll.
