I did it myself so yes.
no balancing as the shaft is not replaced nor touched. Just the rear housing popped off and replaced.

with the plain vf34 that was slightly ported, with a front mount/ecutek etc and at 20 psi - i hit 210 kw aw (209.something kw) on a dyno dynamics and 333 nm torque.

With the vf34/p20 im yet to get it tuned but check my thread in the general section to see all the supporting gear and watch that space...

Stock VF34, FMIC, Motec and 1.6 bar = 310hp and ~400Nm at the wheels on a hot day.

More than enough fun for a daily. No need for built motors or the like (that was done on an EJ205 too). P20 would give it even more again.

I only thought about doing internals because I would like around 280HP, but the bloke at MMS said with a internally stock ej205, 240-260hp is the limit.
So i dont know why he said that, coz it seems some people are hitting over 280HP no problems.

If you went and did alot of 'on the limit' motorsport, yes i think you'd find the 205 would die prematurely.

You could quite easily make 400+hp off an EJ205.

How long it would last is another question.

As jme said, bashing limiter day in day out would help make the 205 fail early as it is a weaker block. A good tuner should be able to push good power out of a 205 for daily use though.

Its all about airflow and fuel...

You can make the power with a big turbo, good cooling, lots of fuel and mild boost.

From the dyno charts i've seen, it looks like the Mainline dyno used
by MMS and RMS seems to read a bit lower than the hub dyno used by ASG. So their figure of 240-260 is reasonable.

Also keep in mind that the guys pushing the ej205 all seem to have one thing in common; FMIC. Thats the first thing i'd be getting if you want to maximise your power while still being reliable.

The TD05 is repairable being a bushed turbo, VF34 is bearing and I do not believe anyone can repair these yet. Reality check, for modest power levels and boost a FMIC is the absolute last thing you NEED.
