Reconditioned clutch?
My clutch is starting to slip and the mechanic iam seeing says i can recondition my clutch for around $780, what do you people think about this, is it worth it. As he says a after market clutch puts to much stress on the gearbox.Any ideas please?

recondition clutch cost 780??!
a new one is around the same price! aftermarket clutches don't damage the gearbox. its the type of aftermarket clutch that damages the gearbox, eg non organic, heavy duty plus it also depends on how you drive, launch who's your mechanic? |

when you change your clutch, you usually do the following:
- get the flywheel face reconditioned (or replaced) - get pressure plate reconditioned (or replaced) i'd imagine it is 780 fitted, which is fair i usually would replaced the whole lot, since you dont really want to be doing this too often, as its a bitch of a job (and hence labour cost is the high proportion of the cost) Exedy sports clutch, lightened flywheel, new pressure plate |

the Exedy/Daikin sports organic clutch - around 750-800
Lightened flywheel - 500, local chrome moly (Jun brand - $600) Pressure plate - unsure but budget around $2000 or so |
