Default STI TMIC over stock

Hey all

I have a MY00 WRX and am wondering if there is any benefit to switching over to a TMIC from a STI 99-00 with a waterspray kit. Is it a waste of time or am i better off buying a new aftermarket top-mount? If it is better off buying new what are some ideal brands or manufacturers to look out for?

I am not looking for any huge gains and am running a very stock rex apart from CAI, fuel pump and exhaust. The car just feels like she struggles a lot in the hotter months and i cant be bothered with front mounts as i dont want to have to cut space in the front bar of my car.

The only reason i ask is because member "881" is selling one and the forum will not let me post a reply in his thread.

Thanks for the help guys

GC8 WRX and STI TMICs are the same except for the alloy Y-pipe.

go the 01-05 STI TMIC.

+1 but water spray kit is a good mod for summer and tmic I reckon. There's a few diy's like bunnings/polarbear spec or you can spend a few hundred and get a factory/aftermarket kit.

Is there much stuffing around trying to get a 01-05 STI TMIC to fit or is it a pretty easy job? Is that the best option or are there some other brands out there that you guys might recommend?

I appreciate the help thus far

An aftermarket TMIC is a good upgrade esp for summer. There are several brands but I particularly like the ProcessWest. It comes with a custom designed shroud to ensure proper airflow. The local dealer is Tenagah. for your mod state you would also benefit from a retune – Verso (rave reviews on this forum) or Ecutec.
To save money you could go for a used later model STi TMIC and a used Unichip.
