Default STI Conversion 1999

Hey Guys, Doing a STI engine and gearbox conversion to my 1999 WRX. I have the ecu and loom and was wondering if the computer is much different to the standard one i have in my car. Also would the sti ecu be an easy install to do myslef as i am looking to do all the work on my own. If anyone has advice it would be much appreciated.

Regards Brendan

Computer is tuned differently and also has some small wiring changes to the pin out on the ECU.

IIRC you need to swap the wires for the cam and crank angle sensors on the ECU plugs. I think there maybe something else too, but I cant remember.

do a search for Power FC into a 99/00 WRX, as the 99/00 Power FC is wired the same as a STI ECU and you need to make some pin changes to make it work in a normal WRX.

Thanks, So its not really an easy job. I might get somebody else to do it then, do you think the gains will be significant from changing the ecu?

Is a non-blown, great running motor a gain?

I thought my ecu would run the engine without any real drama. I'll be doing the ecu for sure but i think i'll leave that up to the professionals. I have no idea when it comes to the computers and wiring them up.
