Angry Idle Prob My00 Gc8.. Need Help

Hi all,

recently after spraying the upper engine cleaner and purging it all out from the exhaust, i have an idling prob on my car.

It drives alright but when it's idling, RPM fluctuates down and up and the car sounded it had "Cams" in it.

Give it a tad bit of rev and it will go up initially and straight away drop down to almost zero and sometimes it stalls. i've cleaned the idle control valve sensor and put on a brand new afm but to no avail.
Have checked all vaccum lines as well as the bov for leaks. dunno if it's the o2 sensor playing up.

Need some "guru-lious" replies and help here.......... Anyone???

what air filter are you running?

was the AFM new from Subaru or else where?

I have a diagnostic data scanner.....takes 5 mins to plug in and diagnose dead afm, tps, etc.

O2 sensor only effects cruise mixtures really.

give me a buzz (0401291357) if you'd like me to swing past with the scan tool.

Did you spray it down the the vacum pipe (not the hose) on the throttle body. ive used this stuff on a couple of GC8 i get from here and havent had any problems. If you need any assistance shoot me a pm, the diagnostic scanner should pik the fault and probably others.

my car does the exact same thing it does not stall but i though it was normal when running a link ecu. so i need a new afm

hi guys, thanks for the replies,

as mentioned, afm is a brand new one.. abd according to LegacyRS, o2 sensor will only show signs when driving..

so elimination process will bring us down to either the idle control valve or tps... do u guys know how to adjust the TPS?

Also if it's AFM, the idle will be more erractic, i know how it is like cos it happened to me before..

went for the painful option of getting a brand new subaru afm sensor although i do have a z32 afm and power fc collecting dust in the garage.. no time as well as no tuners available, hence forced me to this painful option..
