define can't engage, gear stick won't move, you get grinding, gear stick feels like it sleects a gear but does nothing etc..

That shouldnt happen.

How do you drive your wrx, hard or easy? Stock clutch?

Try going for the gear then letting out the clutch a little while still selecting and it usually allows it in.

This happened to my mates silvia. It turned out that the clutch plate was loose. Could it be the slave master cylinder?

If you can select all gears with the engine off, but when the engine's running you can't select, then the problem is the clutch not releasing. Could be a number of reasons. Confirm if this is the case?

Sorry to bump/hijack an old thread. I was just driving my car home and the gear stick will not move from second gear. I have tried selecting alternative gears with the engine off but to no avail, and I do not want to force it as it seems it will simply grind. This luckily only happened around the corner from home but I am a bit concerned.

Car is a 99 Version 5 STi, stock clutch-which seems to be operating as per normal + no modifications. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated thanks.
