05 STI is 8". 235's fit fine. I'm just curious why you're going 40 profile?

I have ran two sets of 235/45/17 on a 17 x 8
I went to a 245/40/17 on the same rim without any issues either

Running 235/40/18 RE002's So far 5000KM on them.
Impressed with the grip over the original fit Dunlop Sport 235/45/17's.
A little noisier than the Dunlops, more direct feel and more confidence.

Need recommendations for new tyres, 235/35ZR19 91Y that are found on a Golf R.
Looking for best grip without a care in the world for road noise.
Thoughts?

Was given some Rims as a parting gift a while ago, just trying to figure out the best size tyre...

Its a MY00 GC8, rolling on stock size tyres, and the car is lowered on Kings superlows (i think)

New rims are 17x7.5 and 45 offset. looking at the wheel fitment thread, 215/40 seems to be the size... or could i get away with 225/40? has anyone ran that size on the 45 offset before?

Curious to see if any one has any experience with the Dunlop Direzza ZII?

Apparently they compare well to the AD08s and seeing that I'm due for a set of tyres in the next few weeks, they are on my short list.

In the process of arranging payment to TireRack for 4 x KU31's in 225/45/17 with matching Enkei SR6's in Gunmetal with Polished Lip.

Fitted and Balanced before they ship, with 20 black lug nuts for less than $1500 landed.

The tires alone the best quote I could get in perth including fitting was just over $950. The tires alone from TireRack were $400 not including shipping. (Tried a few various big-chain outlets. Didnt bother with Wheels World for an RS Im not after any expertise).

Thanks to Ludwig and Tony for the recommendation. Best bit is if I get a WRX/Forrester next time around, I can keep the wheels, if not, I can put them on Jess's car
