Think its the other way around Alex,

For a give rpm, the wheel rotates further with a bigger circumfrence hence you travel faster.

Also, its not as simple as that. As the tyre is effectively flat on the bottom with the car weight on it, the radius changes, and so the calculation needs to be redone.;)

Nope. He was right.

Its all in the wording, alex explained it relative to speedo reading, not actual road speed.

A SMALLER tyre will make the SPEEDO read HIGHER at a given road speed.

Haha, don't start on flat bottom tyres n shit.
Tyre pressures are also an influence.
The current location of Pluto relative to the Earth also needs to be factored in…

As pluto isn't a planet its superfluous.

But the amount of rubber on the ground providing grip isn't.

Anyone run Federal 595-RS-RR's as street/performance/track tyre? Need a new set shortly. Obvoiusly everyone jerks off to AD08R, but checking the market etc.

Marketing Hype:

The 595 RS-RR, proven on the renowned Tsukuba Circuit in Japan, is the exemplary result of international R&D cooperation. Evolving from the legendary 595 RS-R with the aggressive, inferno shape tread design and high-grip compound, it delivers extraordinary handling and cornering ability and enables drivers to experience unprecedented speedy ride experiences.

Send saint a PM as he runs them.

Saint_23 03-09-2015 07:39 AM

They are ok for a short rallysprint, or sprint series type of thing.
They overheat after 2 or 3 laps at barbs and get squirmy.

They are cheap but they do an ok job, but they will not compete with the yoko's and the like.
I find the limit of them quite easily, and wont be getting them again.

Good feedback, cheers

Any recommendations on tyre suppliers SOR, given I have used TOYO R888 before I'm leaning that way again unless somebody has any recommendation. The car is destined for targa west and will more than likely be close to the rear so not searching for super grip that falls off too quickly.

Are the new version of the r888's out yet?

I was pretty happy with the Hankook z221's in a medium compound. They should suit targa as they hang on really well once they come on.

Try John Fowler or Kostera's.
