Wow how times have changed.. 5-6 years ago i remember redline oils as being the "in" oil to use..
A year or two after they got out and everyone used them.. there were problems appearing EVERYWHERE.. from their transmission stuff to the engine oils and no one would dare use/recommend them. *remember seeing this stuff after it seperated in a gearbox* And now back to people swearing by it again. Personally I wouldnt touch the stuff..

Redline Lightweight shockproof is a good oil. But it does have one downside. It does NOT like to be contaminated by the old oil left in the gearbox. Makes it turn all gloopy and useless.
I'm using Redline LWSP myself in my 6 speed. I also let my 6 speed drain for a few weeks before installing it and putting in the Redline oil. No problems.

i would drain the oil you have now, clean that magnet, and replace the oil.

Hey fellas, It's hard to say when the gear crunch happens. Sometimes during slow shifts, and sometimes during hard shifts. But it's always the same gears. I think the best thing for me to do now, is to change over to Redline LWSP, and see if that makes a difference. I have 1 more year left on new car warranty, so I will definitely get on Subaru's case if the Redline LWSP doesnt fix my problem.
Thanks Again! Madmaxxx6 |

if you drain the oil and see copper in the oil i would say your synchro has gone..
and looks like you have to remove the gearbox and strip it apart to see how bad it is.. maybe its best to get a second hand gearbox from the wreckers.. ps make sure you get the right ratio. if you not sure let me know i might be able to help you.. check the LHS of the gearbox to see the number on the box it starts with ty752vb3fa for example.. hope that helps.. |

u better off replacing or rebuilding if theres damage buddy and use your warranty if u can.. just take in mind that user abuse is not covered under warranty so u may wana lay low on your "Track Visits" |

and if it cost more the $2000 to do the whole job it may not be covered under warranty.
