detonation 92 n/a liberty
our 1992 n/a auto liberty is starting to ping ( detonate )
travelled 251000kms used 95 oct but it also pings under load ignition timing is set and cannot be adjusted if the tank is emptied and 98 oct is used will it stop pinging or will I be just wasting $$$ on an old engine ?

Clean the Air flow meter and check the knock sensor for cracks.
Also check for leaks in the intake between the air flow meter and throttle body. Extra air being introduced into the intake past the air flow meter will lean out the mixture and can cause pinging.
