yea we get that smell from my brothers 98 liberty, and there's no turbo or oil leaks on that :S i always thought it was the pipes getting too hot :S

have you got a stainless steel exhaust? if so you should be able to see if something is dripping/landing on it and burning

Pretty sure I found the problem.. the boot around the drivers side CV joint is damaged, and its spraying grease everywhere when I drive. The joint doesnt seem to be in very good condition, looks like I am up for a new CV joint (explains the noise from the front end while moving I was also trying to find). Shit!

Any ideas on how much its going to cost me for replacement?

Go and see JWS, they do complete drive shafts for $150.....$50 for them to install whilst you wait (maybe 1/2 hour job) or do it yourself.

I have GD shafts in the front of my CG8 STI from them and have had no probs in 6000km.
