Default Smoke after boost

Hi there,

i have been noticing some smoke coming from the rear of the car just after lifting off the gas after being in boost. It dosnt happen everytime but when it does it kind of looks a little blueish.

The car has had regular services and recently had the 100k service and the garage said it was fine.

I am just wondering what is causing the below of smoke. Turbo seals? or piston ring perhaps?

The car is a wrx 99, vf34 turbo, Autronics ecu, K&N intake, car covered 105k and just had a regular service.

Please help???

P.s. i used the search tool first

Oh and after you check all those, if you still can't fix it....replace your PCV valve.

Default Bump

Hi,

yeah the car has a Hks ssvq installed. The filter was cleaned on the 100k service but possibly not the regular one. I would have to check. Are they easy to clean?

Please excuse my lack of techy knowledge but what is and where is a PCV valve?

One more thing. Is it easy/expensive to replace the seals on a vf34 torbo?

Cheers for your help guys.

not replacable

if turbo seals are gone, then you need new turbo.

Is it white or black smoke?

Edit - i have to learn to read

Blue/black smoke is ususally just the engine running too rich.

it could be the BOV's fault. im not 100% on the model, is it a plumb back one? or atmospheric venting one?
If its a venting one, that could be the reason.

the ECU is injecting masses of fuel for the air that it thinks is going into the engine, but its getting vented to the atmosphere.

Steve.

from what you're saying with the blue smoke, there is a high possibility that your turbo seal is gone, that was what happened to my 180sx ages ago..and you would be able to smell some burning oil from your exhaust to confirm that.

best bet, take it to a workshop.
