I have an STi Bugeye (stock - is that a VF34????) and I normally get 400 to 450 (around town)... is that about normal??? 600 or so would be nice but that ain't gonna happen... Only took it on a country trip once (normally take the patrol) and even then just to Australind and back, ended up with about 500 out of that tank, sounds about right I guess?

Oh... always thought it was a VF34. What is the difference between a 34 and a 35??? And on another note, is there really that much difference going to a FMIC? Is the improvement mainly because you can physically fit a larger one or is it the actual cooling effect of better airflow as opposed to a top mount with scoop?

Does anyone even read the Turbo thread these days ??????
So many questions about turbos.... VF34 BB, PZ18 ex.h/47.9mm c.h/6+6b c.w/0.63 A/R - JDM V7/V8 STi RA Spec C VF35 TB, PZ15 ex.h/47.9mm c.h/9b c.w/0.51 A/R - OZ/UK MY02-05 STi VF34 Ball Bearing = good off boost response, VF35 Thrust or Sleeve Bearing = big kick when on full boost which some love in a Turbo car / poorer off boost response compared to VF34 VF34 PZ18 exhaust housing which is bigger than the PZ15 on the VF35 meaning VF34 has more KW up top. This is at the expense of being on full boost some 200-300RPM later than the VF35. FMIC = cooler air charge into the engine / less heat soak in city traffic = ability to run more ignition timing before detonation = more torque and top end power. However it takes a while to fill all that piping up to full boost pressure compared to a TMIC which means you loose some throttle response compared to a top mount. To some this is unacceptable. A FMIC should be matched to an appropriate Turbo thats provides good air flow to fill the piping as quickly as possible. A reversed manifold setup and short as possible piping runs for a FMIC is the best way to go. J
