Default it is worth modifying a HKS dump pipe?

i have a HKS mild steel dump pipe. being an "old school" system, its of a "flat-plate" flange design. the flange and plate covering the wastegate port appears to be quite thick.

my questain is would it be worth getting a hole cut out of the flange plate, and modify it, so i end up with a divorced dump pipe (waste gate and exhaust turbine outlets kept separate, meeting together further down the dump pipe.)

who would be willing to do this kind of work?

I had one that was modified by the previous owner. Sounded good and made some quality turbo whistle - I can't tell you if it's better than other designs but was definite improvement over stock.

I'm not sure who can do a quality job for you for less than an arm and a leg but I'm sure someone here will have a recommendation. See how much it would cost to get done - it might be worth it, but with high labour costs here and most other products being made in China, it'll probably work out more expensive than getting a new one. Good luck mate!

Now I got it, makes the whistle from very low down in the rpm range It is probably one of the better if not best designs. Seperate pipe for the wastegate flow, merges about 18" down the dump pipe just before it curves to meet the catalytic convertor. I'll see if I can get some pics happening over the weekend.

Buy a split dimp like my old trust one. Should have kept that mate, searched everywhere for one and ended up buying from over east. :-(

Id be intrested in a nice butler dump pipe design actually. Wonder if it'll improve over Dylans exhaust much, or at all.
