Default New discs...New pads compulsory?

Probably going to answer my own question here....

Got some DBA4000's on the way, are new pads compulsory? I am guessing they are especially as mine have done an AHG day and something like 5000KM's with the occasional bit of 'making progress'....they are trackday DS2500 equivalents if that makes a difference.

Once the disks are run in would I be able to put the used pads back on? There is barely any material gone off of them.

DBA staff have actually recommended bedding in new pads or discs with the old discs or pads. but personally i have always changed both at the same time and never had an issue

It all depends upon the condition of the material on the old pads...ie cracked, glazed etc. If the old pads haven't deteriorated much, then a quick sand with rough paper will clean up the surfaces and they should be OK.
With my old GC8, for every track day I used to change from the Bendix road pads to Pagid RS4-2 track pads without any issues (reason for this is that the padgids were extremely noisy for everyday driving).
However, if the old pads are cactus, I would chuck a fresh set on.

Thanks guys. I think I will play it safe and order up another set of pads...either way it gives me a set of new pads 'in stock' or I end up with the old ones (which are nearly new) as spares.

If you're after a DS2500 type pad, checkout the QFM 1RM. For Brembo $149 per axle set. A few around the traps here have tried them and nothing but good reports so far.

We personally ran them in the rally car all last season, and couldn't fault them. Also less dust and rotor wear than the DS2500's we ran previously.

If your current pads are 'nearly new' I wouldn't be getting a new set mate.
You'll only have issues if your current pads are in poor condition (unevenly worn, cracked etc)

Just put a straight edge across the surface of the pad and see if its flat. if so, just use your old pads..

They're fine. Did a number of days at Barbagallo, Collie and AHG with standard rotors and ds2500 pads. When the 4000's went on we just changed the pads at the same time, no issues.
They're a dusty pad though, keep going through bottles of Autoglym wheel cleaner trying to keep the wheels reasonably clean. Should really just run seperate track/street pads.
