Default How to use the aftermarket cruise control

It's finally time to ask about this after messing around on and off for months.

The cruise control stick behind the steering wheel has a small tab on the front which flicks between on and off, and can also push slightly to 'set decc'.

The only other button is on the end which is set acc.

The stick itself wobbles around like its position might have something to do, but not necessarily.

Currently with the tab set to on and the end button pushed in, the car will accelerate briefly for 1 - 2 seconds then slow down like nothing has happened.

Any clues?

i reckon he's dodgy and it never worked properly... what is supposed to happen is you turn on the cruise control hit set and it then uses a secondary throttle cable to keep your speed consistantly at the speed you're doing... most times it accelerates just lightly to get tension on the cable but should then hold. Sounds to me like whatever speed input is going into it isn't wired right or there could be an issue with the actual unit making it unable to hold tension on the secondary cable ???

Good auto eleccy will be able to tell you i think

if you hold 'set acc' it should accelerate until you let go and then maintain that speed.

set decc should work the opposite. If its not maintaining speed properly, the magnets for the sensors may be too close together, or not evenly spaced. Or if its like my one, there may be a sensitivity switch on the control box you can change.
