Wrxtasy. can you suggest a gearbox oil that wont mind being mixed with other oils?

Thats a great marketing strategy from Redline, use the oil once - then you have to use it forever!!

When i did my radiator, I needed more than one of those big ones. Arm yourself with 2 of those, then you will have some spare

10w 60 is what you want mate with the oil. Castrol Edge is good.

The 5L of collant will be plenty.

5w30 i always thought was too thin an oil. The booklet says 10w40 for gc8s i believe. You sure 5ltrs will be enough? Id of though it would of taken 1 and a bit.

5w30 synthetic for 99-00 gc8 by the book (remember your car is stock Damo).

10w40 for pre 99 ej20.

10w60 is too thick to flow to the heads when cold.

5l of coolant concentrate is plenty.... minimum ratio is 3parts water to 1 parts coolant (30%).....5l will give you near on a 50% mix which is heaps.

126 000Km you want a high viscosity oil on the track.
Castrol Edge Sport 10w60 if going full Synthetic, warm the car up before however.

Mobil Syn S 10w40 is very good also.
The best is still the Mobil Delvac MX Extra 10w40, for both street and track.
Its not that expensive either. And yes its for petrol engines as well.

Statewide Oil are the distributers, ring 'em.

Valvoline, Fuchs or Motul Gear 300 all in 75w-90 for gearbox and rear diff.

5 liters will be enough for both (or 5 quarts). 4ltrs for the Gearbox and about 800ml for the rear Viscous LSD.

It's a street car..... and his first track day.

bugger a 15 minute warm up on a 5 degree collie winter morning......

I'm running 5w30 Edge on a 215,000 km ej207....... I see 250 kpa (36 psi) at idle engine hot and 630 kpa (91 psi) 1600 rpm and up (via defi gauge).

I'd put in whatever the manual says.

Subaru engineers know more about the engines than mechanic tinkerers.
