Default Version 5/6 STI conversion

Hi all,

I've done my search on this site but to no avail. Most of the threads were about a conversion from a Rx to a wrx/sti.

I am looking into selling my current car and with some funds possibly attempt a version 5/6 STI on a GC8 wrx.

My rationale would be to purchase the cheapest (obviously high kms) GC8 WRX (Not RX) and do a straight engine/gearbox/rear diff swap.

Thereafter, looking into getting some seriously braking gear with 02/03 sti brembos etc..

Would this be an easy straight forward swap over ? V5/6 STI engine/gbox/rear diff into a 98-00 WRX ?

Does having an auto/manual WRX matter ? Would this be a feasible and practical weekend track car ?

Would be great if someone could chip in on the labour costs involved in such a swap.

Many Thanks to all
