Default Draining battery?

My car doesnt get driven alot. Maybe once a week for about 10-15mins. The battery is pretty much brand new, 3months old tops - 570 CCA.

So the other day, get a call at work from my sis that my alarm is going off and wont respond to the remote. Figured the battery was going flat, so I went home with some jumper leads and jump started it. Left it to idle for about 15mins and went for a 5mins drive. Parked it, happy times.

2 days later, alarm goes off again, but at 1am in the morning when the power was out. What are the f'n chances.

So my question is...does brant eat a fair bit of battery?

Thinking about fully charging the battery as well and leave it unhooked. This concerns me tho about the whole keypad thing, it might do some whacky shit?!

I've left mine garaged for extended periods of time (up to 4-5 weeks) and it still starts no worries. I'm pretty sure I'm running a 530CCA too, with a brant, so I doubt it thats your problem. Check door sensors are definitely working. I had a rear one thinking the door was open all the time which drained mine a few years back.

Could be a few things.

Sounds like there is an appliance in the car still running ( have you tapped into the 12v source anywhere?).

The door jam sensors as suggested could also be a problem, try cleaning them anyway, it can't hurt.

Or, the battery is being charged and left to discharge for a long time, then charged again, reducing the life span.

What kind of battery is it?

I hope I helped some

Bill

Mine does this also but I have a very small battery. You would be surprised on how much shit drains the battery. The best thing to do and this is what I'm doing is to hook up a trickle charger which keeps the battery topedvu when the car is armed for a few days. This will solve your problem.

Not sure if the Brant goes off if you just get low voltage. Pretty sure it does if you disconnect it completely.

Check the Bonnet and boot sensors to make sure they are closing all the way. When I picked mine up headed straight down to Augusta and it started going off randomly.

When I got back to perth I dropped in on the dealer and they adjusted the bonnet one by all of 1/2 a turn and has never been a problem since.

MY REXTC / Billk - Yeah when i went overseas, car was parked for 4weeks, never had an issue.

Come to think about it, it could be my R-RH door. The sensor is abit funny sometimes, when i come across bumpy roads...the door light on dash would flash a little or when 3 overweigh human beings are sitting at the back and they are pressing against the door.

My dome light inside is always turned off...so issit the signal that is draining it? Door sensor > ECU > Dash?

Also where could i stick the 12v meter to test if something is still running?!

Ill have my battery put back in tonight(charging atm), then ill see if my dash is indicating my door isnt closed or my alarm beeps twices, saying one of my doors isnt shut properly.

^Your links are shorten and i cant open it in a new window WRXTASY.
