I have the RX65 and it has NEVER missed a multanova... EVER !
Only problem is that its about a year old and has "service required"
flashing on it now. I need to get it recalibrated or some crap...
Don't let that put you off. The RX65 says it has something wrong, but
other detectors simply stop detecting. At least my RX65 says it has a problem
instead of others where you only find they have a fault when you get a ticket.

I also got it off ebay. Imported from USA, cost around $380 AUS and
that included the freight. Bargain.
Mine started saying that the other day.

However I am hesitant in taking it to the morons at neltronics cos they are a big pile of flog bags. but I dont have much choice do I :(

This is the same guy I got mine from... Going price is around $360 AUS...

Came in box... New and sealed...

Note it says free shipping to Oz... Yeah baby... Oh and I am not
responsible if it gets stopped at customs and you get hit
for import duty. this happens from time to time...

i guess i am one of the few people who elected to go with the Escort passport 8500. Escort own beltronics btw.

I can honestly say the range on this thing is unbelievable. I have picked out highway patrols and multinovas well in advance. I have had the benefit of testing my mates rx65 alongside the x50, and feel it detects quicker and earlier. Bought mine in Aus on special for about 550. Theyre very similar so in the end it will probably come down to price.

theyre in perth and will let you test drive it b4 you buy. They also have side by side comparisons of the too that can be found here .. http://www.radardetectors.com.au/index.php?module=Website&action=Text&content=1123371052484-4307

Will they fix it if you pay them ? If that kind of error surface after a year, I'll rather spend the extra couple of hundred bucks to have it fixed when the problem arises...

NVRENUF 19-12-2005 07:19 PM

I have had both and am using the rx65 now both very good units i have seen both models though need servicing so i personally couldnt say either one is worse for problems, rx65 is programable is the best thing..

Also for peoples interest to get them serviced will cost u $95 from neltronics and they actually send unit back to Canada.

unless under warranty and it gets changed over on the spot...

I noticed that but not much choice is there any where else we can take them any one who services them in house becuase my friends rx65 needs serviceing as well and i wouldnt mind getting software update but dont wana send it to canada

Correct, by the time your detector yells out Laser its way too late to do anything.

I would also suggest leaving the "highway" mode on your RD as it will yield MUCH better detection overall, i've run the same camera a few times with all different modes and each time highway mode was best.

Autoscan left detection up to 3 - 5 m at times which is well and truely crapola.

If you bought an imported RX65 , Neltronics will not touch it fullstop. I kinda understand that the whole grey importing is bad, so keep that in mind when your purchasing your units.

If you are going to hard wire the unit, you can simply do it with some telephone cable from DSE and two RJ12 connectors.. easy..

If you want the the whole mute button thing, with volume control im sure i could make up a few more of the RX65 hardwire kits for people who want em.
Basically it it allows you to relocate a button anywhere in the car and power the unit.

The button handles both Mute, Volume control up and down.
