Question New build check engine light problem...

Hi Guys, right i finally finished building and installing my 207 lump..

I now have the check engine light constantly on I think I have found the problem, the o2 sensor in the up-pipe is not connected the sensor in the headers is fine and also the sensor after the turbo is connected and fine too.

Now the problem is I cant find where it plugs into? I have looked everywhere round the engine to no avail... Is there anyone here who can cast an eye over this who knows where exactly it normaly plugs in on the loom?

cheers

dave

Thats not an 02 sensor in the up-pipe, its a temperature sensor for the up-pipe cat. It's there to prevent your up-pipe cat getting too hot, breaking up and going through your turbo.

If you de-cat it by fitting a catless up-pipe, you'll get a CEL because the temp sensor is not insulated by the cat (it cops all the exhaust gases directly). Also if you unplug it, you'll get a CEL.

The connector is located near the boost solenoid, under the cover on your drivers side strut tower in the engine bay.

If you have de-catted, remove it and put a bung in the hole, then do this... 2.2k ohm resistor in the connector, to trick the ECU into thinking you have a sensor connected. You can buy a packet of them from Jaycar for around $1 (they won't sell you one).

Alternatively, If you get Verso, they can clear this CEL and you won't have a problem with it.
