Could be any of these:

Low fluid
leaking rubber slave cylinder line (common)
air in the system
bent clutch fork
thrust bearing issue

There is no 2001 STi.
No GD STi had a 5 speed.

Is it an 01 Bug Eye WRX 5spd?
I'd be taking it to a workshop asap!

Sounds to me like an air lock in the clutch lines

guys i am taking it to the workshop tmw and i will keep u guys updated. sorry i meant 6 speed sti 01. got a quote from a performance work shop. interval 3 service for 550 what u guys reckon details are as follow Interval 3 service is the replacement of the following oils/fluids; engine, gearbox, transfer case, rear diff, coolant, brake and clutch. The filters we change are oil, fuel & air. But you don't need air filter. We use Motul fluids.
