I have a 3 inch 'hot dog' resonator, you can have it for nominal cost.
As above, there are different opinions on how effective they are, could depend on the car. May be worth a try.

It's true they are illegal but really how many cops do you see on the road and how many would know what they are looking for!

The illegalness of them is pretty much non existent. More that people don't know how they operate.

HSV can have a bi modal exhaust, so why can't we? All flow is muffled it just goes through a longer set of pipes one way. No different imo to driving home and changing mufflers, putting hotdogs in etc.

I'm pretty sure it's to do with the fact that you can physically change the emissions the car is putting out by turning the knob which is technically illegal. But then again every mod you do to your car is probably technically illegal.

What changes to emmissions?

People seem to think this system 'bypasses' something. It essentially adds an additional muffler at the flick of a switch.

As said HSV E2's come with bimodal exhausts to have a race sound and a street sound. Exactly the same.

It changes the flow of the muffler which changes the emissions the system puts out, I'm sure it's not much but it's the reason it's illegal.

it slows the exhaust flow down to reduce noise, but the same gasses come out the pipe.
cant see it changing much at all
