$8k!!!!!!! What the crap! Who the hell gave you that quote? Name and shame!

207- $3k
Freshen heads up-$1000
Install with sundries. $1000.

Even that is exxy. You can get second hand sti motors for less than that.

it's about 5k to get your motor and some parts serviced. but bare in mind u mind want to budget another 1k plus for stuff like engine mounts( since it shakes), gasket kit, seals, o-rings, new timing belt + water pump, oil pump (will be good if it's included with the short block), pulley belts etc.
U might even want to change your clutch and flywheel while at it as well.

If u r planning on keeping it for awhile, do it the proper way. If not, just put in a motor and drive it.

I ended up having a complete engine rehaul including ported v6 sti heads, new cams, sti bottom end everything changed inclusive of run in and normal tuning i think she went near on the 11k mark from memory. There are alot of small extras that add up.

If your planning to sell it in a year, your best option would have to be a complete motor from Japanese Wholesale as Tuna suggested. They should be able to do one for about $2.5 grand (this is what they quoted me on a 2.5 ), and can install it if you want.

if going down that path you will need a new ecu too.

I think B4GT is suggesting that you need a different ecu if you swap to a 2.5.
I was just giving you an idea of cost, not saying you should put in a 2.5 motor.
2.0 litre should probably go for about the same price.
