Default Fuel system issue

Car in question is a 93 RS lib. Has apexi power fc pro, TD05 and bosch coil conversion.

Currenly helping a mate to get it fixed up and ready for rego.
Last started it after tidying up coil wiring 3 days ago, started fine.
Since then I have pushed the power fc up under the steering column where the ECU lives and cable tied it and the wiring loom up out of the way.

Got a permit to drive it last night. No go.
Few checks later reveal no fuel getting to engine. Topped up with 25 lts fuel, still nothing. Turn key to on position and sounds like pump is priming but still nothing.

I undid the fuel line from the tank and tried, again zilch. Blew compressed air into line going to engine to give pressure on remaining fuel in line and it started on that.

So my big question;

Is it possible for the fuel pump to sound like it is priming but not do a thing?
I recall something about a jet pump in some awd tanks to pump the fuel from one side to the other. Could that be what I am hearing?
I have had a decent look and cant find anything that has been disrupted when tying up the loom and ECU.

Well pissed off that it just stopped when we were ready to go.

It can do that if its spinning backwards (installation error), or if the rubber line between the pump and hard line in the tank is ruptured..

You'll just have to go through it front to back. Check the wiring from the dash, relay, and plug under the back seat and then the plug at the pump itself.

If its priming but not pumping with the engine on, I'd look at the relays first.

Well it makes the noise as if it is priming but nothing is coming out. I have had the hose off the top of the tank and turned the key. Still makes the noise but nothing getting pumped out.

either that or the pump is not creating enough pressure

Found the problem. Pulled the fuel pump out and here is what I found. Note, this is how it looked upon removal before I touched anything. Check this out;

It appears the fuel pump has been replaced at some point and the hose joining the pump to the tube was not suited to being submersed in fuel. The hose has pretty much doubled in length and allowed the fuel pump to fall off and float in the tank. Also the negative wire had ended up with the insulation being stripped off it. Replaced the hose and wiring with items I had laying around as luck would have it and all systems are go.

Many thanks for the input guys.
