Exedy Hyper Single experiences??
Anyone using a exedy Hyper Single on a 5 speed?
Just wanting to know how easy it is to live with on a day to day basis... and whether it is that much more abrupt on the transmission Not after the go a organic as it will break your box speech from people who havent had personal experience before |

what kind of power are you looking at?
Would recommend a sports tuff clutch instead. Its cheaper and can hand a fair bit of power |

I've got an Exedy Sports Tuff.
Feels the same as stock, launches well and doesn't slip even with over 350 at the hubs. Didn't cost much either.. I bought it off eBay from a Victorian brake & clutch shop (can't remember the name now) brand new, for about $450 landed. I'm running it with a Fidanza aluminimum flywheel which makes an awesome difference to throttle response, but its noisy on decel. |

I've got an Exedy Heavy Duty clutch fitted (also known as an Ultra Fibre single in Japan).
Paid about $770 plus fitting plus lightweight chrome-molly flywheel. Very strong clutch and can take a load but also requires some 'leg strength' around town (i.e. a bit stiffer than a organic HD upgrade). I've also added a braided clutch line for what its worth. Cheers |

Have been through about 3 sports tuffs over the years... great daily driving, and great out on the track with modest amounts of horsepower (up to 350 easy as Joe said- but all depends how you drive it)...
As for the organic argument- see your avataar, well I'm usually the guy standing outside your car behind the gate and I can honestly says I've seen a lot of launches in my time there and a lot of box breakages from noobs that run big expensive clutches (carbon wank, ceramic, twin plates etc) when they could have invested the money into a better box/ drivetrain! Something's gotta give, so may as well be the cheaper item that's designed for that sort of wear and tear...??

After 11 billionty launches on a MY05 5 speed of fail, without breaking a box / shaft / anything (well my exhaust came off the hangers more than once )... I wouldn't use anything other than an organic.
Clutch is a consumable, otherwise you make the next weakest thing in the driveline a consumable.

haha would have loved to have seen ya launch Kato. I have done a heap myself (150ishkw atw) with a stock clutch and if i do need to get another i would go the organic.
