Default Turbo Timer installation question

Hey just bought an apexi turbo timer,

took it down to an auto electrician to install and he said that you have to bypass the security system. Is this for real. I have a MY00 wrx and also got quoted $80 for the installation. Seems a bit much.

Advice would be heaps appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you talking about the BRANT keypad or some other aftermarket car alarm?

Yep, it is a bit much. But places tend to overcharge for installation anyway.

Give this guy a call, 08 9358 4969, ask for Raheem. He can do it for around $45 to intergrate with the alarm.

Take it to someone who has done that sort of thing before. I installed my Apexi timer
and had to do some interesting things with power diodes to convince the alarm that the engine was off when the timer actually had it running.

If it is a normal alarm it hopefully wont be too hard as the 2 points of immobilisation
are generally on the starter and run circuits which are easy to bypass. I believe
the brant system is far more integrated into the cars wiring harness which makes
it harder to put in a timer, but on the other hand makes it a better alarm.

Good luck.
