Default AVCS Heads w/ NON AVCS cams

I've been reading through a few threads on here for the last hour or two to try and work out what heads to go on my 207, heads will be ported/cammed aswell
i have been offered some complete 08 sti heads, with very low kays on them
for a good price.
After looking around, this is what i see what i will have to do to fit on a 207 in a 99 wrx

Aftermarket cams (non avcs)
99 cam pulleys (non avcs)
cosworth air pump delete plates
01 wrx manifold??
tgv delete if 01 manifold is necessary?

will i have problems with the existing loom? , not using avcs
running an autronics ecu pnp

if someone could shed some more light on this, and let me know if i need anything else, or if theres anymore problems i will encounter.

Thanks
James

avcs heads with non avcs cams can be done, you will need to obviously replace the cam wheels/seals and remove the rear cam sensor.

you will also need to add the passenger side cam sensor pickup, and replace the crank toothed wheel.

How do I go about adding the passenger cam sensor pick up?
and obviously just use the toothed wheel that is fitted to my motor now?
will the 99 manifold bolt up to these heads?
or will i have to go to a gd manifold?

cosworth make a part for the sensor bracket, use the my99/00 toothed wheel/cam wheels yes, and you can use your existing my99/00 manifold, no problems.

What's peoples opinions on doing this versus buying a set of v6 STI heads and port/cam them?

Ver 6 STi heads are shim unders where as later models are shimless buckets. Plus if you ever get a motec you may be able to use the AVCS by just altering your cam/head setup back to enable AVCS.

Maybe some version 7 Jap spec big port heads might be the trick?

hmmm never thought of it that way.. good point
only reason why i'm thinking of going the later model heads is a friend has a very low k set of a current model sti, that i can get for next to nothing, and will also save down time in me having the engine out of my car, and also the fact that they are shimless, and have read stories about the shims coming loose.. nasty
being heads off a 2.5, what head gaskets should i be using? the 2.5, or the 2.0litre ones?
genuine? aftermarket?

2.5 heads wont suit a 2.0 block, the crown leaves too much of a gap.

2.0 heads will go on a 2.5 block though.
