yeah you need to also change to suitable backing plates, hubs and brake rotors (the rotors are way bigger!). Have to be careful to get the hubs to suit R160 diff because there are different ones which also suit 2pot but are for R180 diff setups - ie they won't suit your driveshafts.

thanks for the help guys, I *think* I've got it sorted now.

I phoned Race Brakes in Melbourne. They had what they say are the correct pistons on the shelf. I asked the guy what the dimensions for diameter and height were. I was going to order them but then I thought, if I give the dimensions to the local place maybe they'll have better luck with their suppliers.
Well they did have better luck. They have to order them from the eastern states anyway but I know it's not Race Brakes because it ended up being a few dollars cheaper. Still costing me $30 each (4 pistons) plus an airbag to get them.
Then it's going to cost $134 each caliper to have them blasted, re-painted, new seal kit fitted and assembled with the new pistons.

Bit annoying the calipers were missing the pistons, but at least the up-shot is I'm going to finish up with the piece of mind of completely re-conned calipers which should last an age.

Looking forward to the upgrade, the brake rotors are massive compared to the stock originals!

ok ill do a little write-up with progress pics when I do it. Possibly this weekend depending if they can finish the calipers for me in time.
This is on my Gen1Series1 Legacy GT. Converting from single pot sliders.

the brake place will be doing the rebuilds, but ill post up pics when I get them back. Here are the pics of all the stuff I received. Note previous/previous owner had a terrible crack at painting them. They'll be getting blasted and made black before I get them.

Got my calipers all sorted, just fitting them today.
Just a couple of things tho...

Have I got the pads in the right way? The little metal bit which comes built onto two of them doesn't seem to correspond to anything.

What are the metal things on the floor for and where do they go? Can't seem to find anywhere for them to fit.

thanks!

It's ok I figured out where those 4 metal plates go, fitted them now. Can anyone confirm the pads are in properly?
