Well went the temperary fix, props for the guys that helped me out

Attached is a photo of what happens when you quick change 1st to 2nd around 7000rpm.

As you can see 2nd gear and the input shaft are shot.

Parts have been replaced, car is going great. Need a 6 speed in the near future.

Pete I'm a little slow on the uptake but did you blow your box & motor in the last 6 months.

Nice damage on that second gear, nearly stripped it clean.

if yopu are going for the sti 6 speed you would probably want to cahnge over to the R180 rear end as well rather than finding another weak link 6months on.

question....

To get a sti 6 speed fitted with an sti rear diff to go with the front and ctr ones required...estimate around 6K?....this is an exchange price isn't it, so do they want my new clutch and flywheel?

the std clutch is pretty strong hey? would it have similar clamping pressure to an Excedy sports organic? so would stick with the std sti clutch..

currently have a JUN lightweight flywheel and would like one for the 6 speed, add 800$?

currently have a short shifter for the 5 speed and would like one for the 6 speed as well, add 150$...

so far we are running @7K drive in drive out....hmm

whats an albins custom ratio 5 speed synco worth? drive in drive out? I dont think they would match the strength/durability of the 6 speed though.

questions? comments? ideas?
