Default After market steering wheel

My daughter has just purchased an after market steering wheel and boss kit for her beloved 1997 impreza lx....
ive tried to fit the boss kit but there is a plastic socket for the horn wires that is in the way, has anyone fitted a different steering wheel if so any advice will be gratefully received on how they got it too fit?
cheers

take a photo. but normally you need to poke the horn wires through the middle. mine was as simple as ripping the old one off, put the new one on

Sounds like she has the wrong kit.
early ones have a slip ring and brush (single contact) for the horn. Later ones have 3 pins in a clock spring contact.
I reckon your car has the clockspring type.
Read the warning on the yellow label otherwise you can easily break the clockspring on assembly.

No. Unfortunately you cannot.
There are original Subaru equipment Momo hubs that suit the clockspring switchgear, you may have to find a good secondhand one.
