Default Fuel Economy... :-s

Ok,

It is widely known that you don't buy a WRX if you want fuel economy.. but mine seems to be a complete guzzler... I want to find out what sort of range everybody else gets.

I'm driving an MY08 Hatch, all stock standard and currently average just over 400km per tank of normal driving around Perth... If I'm heavy on the right pedal I'm getting a max of about 350km Per tank..

Is this right!!??

Phew man . . . less pressure on the "go pedal". On boost = fuel use!

I average about 420-450 per tank in my GTB Liberty city driving. However, to give you an idea of fuel use. The highest litre per 100 Km instantaneous reading I've ever seen on my ECUdatascan was 770 litres

Subaru states that Urban fuel consumption is about 14l/100km for the MY10. The MY08 would be more like 13 because of less power.

Assuming that you fill up when the fuel light comes on, you will have used 50l of fuel. So 350-400km sounds about right.

50/13 = 3.84
3.84x100km = 384km per tank

If I go changing the exhaust etc, that would technically make it worse right?

Mate if you're worried about fuel economy you shouldn't have bought a performance car...could be worse though, you could have bought a 6.2L V8 Commodore...

That is a valid point... I really wanted confirmation that the car was normal! I'm getting the 50K service done next week so anything unusual I was going to list..obviously the fuel economy thing is 100% normal.. and I'm too much of a hoon haha.

I beg to disagree, my other car is an 09 ssv ute and it has faaaaar greater fuel economy than my WRX!

Basically i can do 950km on a tank (about 70l) on the highway, about 650 around town!

On paper the WRX should win but if you drive the ute normally it is phenominal on Fuel!
