Cracked head gasket
Hi I've got a cracked head gasket on my 00 GC8 WRX and was wondering if anyone knows roughly how much it would cost to fix and if they know a cheap mechanic that does it? Thanks

I'd contact DTrally on the forum and see if he has a halfcut, swap new motor in and keep the old one to build up maybe? Its pretty expensive to repair headgaskets on a wrx compared to other cars.
We were quoted between $2k-$3k so it was roughly the same price to drop in a halfcut motor with 30,000kms on it |

indeed, its an engine out experience, and whilst its out you're crazy if you don't replace the timing belt, tensioner pulleys & waterpump, heads will probably require a skim too

Why cheap? Wait the extra time and get it done by a genuine mechanic/workshop. Cheap = problems.
