I've played around with the HKS Kansai premium suction CAI as well as the factory airbox using the sti panel filter, zerosports elbow replacement and the Prova inner duct(replaces resonator).
Picked up 2psi peak boost and quietened the car considerably keeping the airbox. Kansai setup sounds fantastic. Seat of the pants couldn't tell a difference however.

I swapped the airbox back into my car just for the hell of it and did some logging. It's much quieter than the CAI that's for sure, but I was dissapointed with the performance though.
After looking at the logs it was obvious that intake temps rise much higher and stay higher for longer if you sit at the lights for even a few seconds. High intake temps mean it's harder to make boost and you run reduced timing, so it feels slower. I will try to get some lower temperature logs eventually so I can compare against the CAI.

I'd be keen to see some comparative results.
Thanks for sharing!

Re: panel filters.
Our UK counterparts have conducted some flow rate tests on the replacement dry filters. STI Motorsport unit came last - factory paper filter was best value for money with the typical non oiled aftermarket 'green' and hks filter coming up as the best flowing unit. Seems the homologation STi filters whilst they are a motorsport unit, their intended use is for homologated Group N use. I.e. offroad. Sythentic weave material filters very well and the metal screen is effective in keeping the rocks at bay. These positives have an effect on flow capacity for the sake of reliability. Interesting stuff no doubt.
