LOL!

He was still deciding what to do with this 2 years ago, then 2 years earlier.

So basically, it might just sit at MMS for the next 18 years.

I too was in a position to buy this but it never eventuated, glad I didn't because the 6 speed cost me, WITH diffs, less than half of what it would have cost to get that Holinger in with appropriate diffs.

6 speed all the way the gears are much bigger than 5 speed dog box, ive hardly heard of ppl busting gears in 6speed but have heard lotsa stories of people busting dog boxes...

The best box imo is the 06-08STI long ratio box, but is only 55:45 split.. The shorter ratio 05STI box is 65:35 split so more rear bias..

Extra weight is saved in your case chad by going v-mount, etc etc..

Actual gearsets blowing in a dog box, or people not knowing how to shift one correctly or miss timing it and busting the forks?

I have not heard of anyone stripping a dog gear? Could be wrong though.

Dog box is such a blanket term for a lot of manufacturers.

People smash PPG straight cut gears would be a better description. Whether it be synchro or dog box.

Plus driving around like you are stuck in reverse all day is cool at first, but would get annoying after a while. You can offset the 30kgs for a 6 speed elsewhere or tune for an extra 10hp to overcome the extra weight.

+1 for the 6 speed. thats what i have in mine. couldnt be bothered with the thought of having to rebuild every 5000kms.

In terms of what else to get: large injectors (850 cc would suffice), oil catch can, oil cooler, maybe look at Hi-rpm valve springs. wouldnt hurt getting some Ceramic coated headers either.

What turbo set-up are you gunna put in there?

this is true, i very much doubt ill be driving at anywhere near the cars limit for that 30kgs to be a major factor and it should have more than enough power anyway

the only thing is reducing weight improves all other aspects of the car ie braking, handling, acceleration etc etc but i doubt i have enough talent to get close to the cars limits for things as small as 30kg to matter

The ratio advantage and spread of power far outweighs (ha!) the additional kilos.
