Default very high pitched noise coming from motor

hey guys! i have a 1993 liberty and its got a high pitched squeal coming from the motor, mostly when idling and just above 1500rpm..

just clarifying to see if it is an alternator noise, or something else..

its been like that for 7 months now, not gonna hurt the motor or anything but it just annoys the shit outta me when i'm sitting at the lights etc..

cheers guys!

kaya.

Could be one of the belts. I had similar issue and it was the P/S belt.

aren't you a mechanic? on at least an apprentice?

i'd say its a belt (p/s, fan, etc) or something similar.

Default noise

if the belts are alright, then check the bearing on the a/c belt tensioner.

if you're referring to me, i would assume that he would have sorted the issue after 7 months. In which case the usual suspects like fan belt etc would have been checked.

yeah i didn't see the 7 months part i just went off the first few lines,
you're right, and also if it was a pulley it most likely would have shredded the belt by now

and no, i'm not a mechanic nor apprentice for future reference, i just read alot, diy and speak from personal experience, i'm a uni student

i don't know, see what google says.
But i was referring to the 'common culprits' for such noises, guess i was too general/noob.
