Default stalling / laggy performance

Gents,

i did do a search and found some "similar" but not quiet the same issues so here we go

if i start up my STI first thing in the morning or when its stone cold it fires up no worries what so ever.

but for example say i drive 10minute to the shop - in store for 5 minutes when i come out the car struggles to start, when it does start its like it keeps trying to stall, get 100m down the street and the car stalls! very embaressing

i cleaned the AFM & Air filter but this has not helped the issue

now under closer inspection i noticed my car is fitted with an exhaust was sold to me as a "bone stock" example - it sounds stupid but not being an STI Expert i thought it may have had a decent exhaust from factory!

what i am thinking is whoever traded it into the dealership had an exhaust fitted and a tune performed.

the dealership then reset the ecu returned it to factory with the exhaust remaining and this is causing the issue. i have read on here that the 06 STI's if you play with the exhaust or any mods you have to get it tuned ASAP.

thoughts?

i have only had it 1 month so its going back to the dealership first thing monday morning.

i have had a bad experience with a workshop taking 7 months to diagnose a faulty fuel pump on a series 3 TS50 and then charging for their "R & D" work to try and diagnose the issue. so i thought i would put it to the experts !

Cheers,

Soo ahh yeah took the car back yesterday had it back yesterday afternoon. I was provided with some lip service explaining it was the battery (seemed very strange considering the specific problem)

Then I stopped to grab a few things at the servo on the way to work this morning,

Boom happening again.

Sorry to bump it, but has anyone else had this issue, search has netted similar but not the same problem

You need to ascertain if it's had a tune.... it would be unlikely, if it has, that a dealer would be able to put it back to stock.
If it's a local car, a tune would have been done at one of the following: All Star Garage (Verso), Maximum Motorsport (ECUTek) or Race Torque (ECUTek)...they would all have records. If it hasn't had a tune and has an aftermarket exhaust, then it needs a tune....

I feel inclined to just take it to one of the workshops to have the work I want to have done to it and get them to sort it out (as they have a farken clue as to what they are doing / looking at) but as I said car is a month old and under warranty.

I am more than happy to void the warranty after the car is running perfect =D

Cheers fellas.

I agree with Nauli - the dealership most likely wouldn't have removed a flash tune. Is it a turbo back exhaust or just a muffler? Regardless, there is no way that an exhaust would be affecting idle but it may help in determining whether the car has been tuned. If it only has a diff-back exhaust, then the odds of the ECU having been reflashed are very, very low.

Does it try to stall all the time (once warm) or is it random? The cold start settings are different so that will be why it runs fine when cold. Have you seen any check engine lights come up on the dash or has the light been flashing on your cruise control switch? How does it drive under boost??

cat back exhaust by the looks of it

i havent seen any engine lights

when the car starts normally it is fine under all driving conditions under boost etc. but when it starts like sh!t it will run like sh!t for the 1st 5 minutes then it will sort itself out.

light flashing on cruise control? i havent looked for it ? what would that indicate?

Sounds like it's the Brant to me. A cat back shouldn't cause any issues.

Have a look at this thread.

The cruise control light flashes when the check engine light is on.

Definitely take it back to the dealer and make use of your warranty. It doesn't sound like it's anything tune related. PIGSTi makes a good point so I'd be mentioning the possible Brant keypad issue to them as it's a fairly common problem with similar symptoms.
