Default Rcomps and performance tyres

Guys,

Im looking at fitting either a performance tyre or comp to a set of 18x10 +25 wheels. Now havent decided whether im am going to track with this wheel hence the question asking about a good performance tyre or rcomp..

Now i am looking at doing circuit work which is only 2-4 laps at a time so would need a rcomp that can heat up after 1 lap or so. The question is goign to a tyre of 265x35x18 are there only a few brands of rcomps that will get up to heat??

I have spoken to a tyre place in Perth and they recommend only the A050 is capable of getting heat into it over a short time..

I currently run a dunlop direzza 245x40x18 R compound and it seems to heat up fine at large tracks.

As for performance tyre in this size what do people recommend?? i have been recommened the AD08 in this size.

And what about symmetrical direction is that important..

AD08 is a street tyre, A050 is the r-comp.

I'm sure Hoare is running the A050's and raves about them.

Tino as I've previously mentioned to you when we were looking at tyres before the Direzza's have been extensively track tested against the A050's and the the Direzza came out on top in all areas.

I'm now trying to find the article from Japan with the test comparison results
and will show you when I find it

Yes the question is does anyone have any knowledge about larger rcomps in the order of 265..

Now ive been told that the larger tyres take longer to heat up and the AD05s will heat up sufficiently enough after one lap whilst the other wont??

The A050 are very good and are used by a lot of competitors in WA who have previously used D03's. (eg some 80% of the top 10 cars in EVO vs WRX used A050's)
MMS still use D03's on their tarmac cars.
Bruce uses a 255 A050 albeit on 17's and his car is ultra competitive.
Not sure what size Fred uses on his X...perhaps PM him.
D03's come in a lot of compounds...if you want ones that heat up quickly, go for at least the M's. Not sure of current compound availability for A050's...ask WW.
Bottom line: both D03's and A050's are excellent and probably have rather similar performance characteristics.

Never tested the Dunlops although have run RE55's in soft (TT) and medium (SR2) these are a really good bang for your buck tyre, will give you a PB even when down to the canvas, the SR2 take half a lap of Barbagallo to come on in the EMO but after that they just grip. A050's (medium) come on quicker though for circuit work they are at there best for 3 laps and then started to overheat, Pete did a 51 on the short track with the A050's so they must be OK, not sure how they heat cycle but seem OK although the old A048's were not great.

I am running the direzzas currently 245X40X18 and they seem really good.

But just witnessing the twilight series they wouldnt get even slightly warm at the sprint sections. So i think i may have to go with the YOKO AD05 as everyone ive spoken to seem to think they heat up a bit quicker than all the others.. Something i need when trying to keep 500whp+ on the tarmac...

Now just need to find a set of them in M compound wheels world wont be getiing anything until next year...
