Hey ill see if i can borrow a volt meter. Can check ur alternator with that. If its putting out about 13.8volt just off idle means alternator is fine. If ur cruising tomorrow ill see if i can bring it.

thanks for the info guys... volts are fine ..14.1 at idle 13.8 when moving..... does that mean the alternator is ok if it can pump that much volts at idle?

It has a malpassi fuel regulator thingy.... If that was worn could it cause these problems?

if i were you i would check the batery or coil. your alternator only charges the batery so if it was faulty the batery would be dead by now so i sugest you get a volt reading from your batery (it should have at least 13 volts) if thats all good you might want to check your coil and your leads. a good way to check if your leads are dieing is open your bonnet at night in total darkness and youl see sparks comeing from them if they have cracks which means there not giving you there highest voltage in the cylinders

if the afr was too rich, you would see black smoke coming out of the zorst but since hes said that theres no smokage, thats eliminated the problem.

When the car is at idle, what is the MAP pressure?

What is your vac overrun settings at?

What is the clamp value current set too?

Its def not the alternator. Bit odd that at revs the volts drop usually other way round. But still that wat it should be sitting at. Also u have no probs starting ur car in the morn so means its got nothing to do with electrics. Sounds to me it could be fuel pump or something that sorta region. Recently had similar problem and that and afm were the prob. U dont have afm so yeah. I recommend taking it to some1 to have a look. With ur electrics shutting down this could be diff from my prob so yeah. a mech should solve the issue.

thanks for the info guys.. have got it goin in on monday to the wok. I think it might be the fuel pump as it is not nearly as noisy as it used to be when car was hammering.... and it takes longer to prime before I can start in the mornings.... It used to be a very loud WHIIRRRRRRRRR all the time now its sorta quiet.

What are symptoms of dying fuel pump? What are symptoms of waste gate not closing properly.. cheers

Dying fuel pump symptom 1) Piston exiting side of block 2) Rod exiting side of block. Get a SARD fuel reg and pressure test. Holden use Malpassi...
Wastegate not closing = less boost = not as much fun. The Wok will sort it for you, might even see you Monday evening
