good motor compared to a regular WRX motor. Close deck, bigger cams, solid shim under bucket lifters, some of them had forged pistons (I think forged pistons were an option not standard on the V1/2 STI-RA).

Although if you can get one, A V3 or V4 (my97/98) STI motor is better IMHO.

how many kms on the 95 RA motor you're looking to buy? You never really know what condition it is in, i'm guessing its pretty cheap?

Dude your buying a 15 yr old motor that leaks less than your current 15 yr old motor. It's 15 yrs old, keep it stock. Push it and you will be replacing a leaky motor.... back to step 1.

Its my motor he's looking at,

105kms in a compleatly stock car (Bar a TBE and ARC TMIC). Did the 100k service on it and serviced every 5 thou while its been here. Turbo has little to no shaft play.

My research shows its not Closed Deck but its so hard to get a definite answer anywhere.

Felt tight when I pulled it out but it is a 15 yr old engine, I wouldnt mod it to hard.
