Hey, I have this rattling sound coming from my 2004 wrx. It seems to start at 2800revs and go away around 4000revs. It sounds like a metal rattling sound and isn't very loud but loud enough for me to notice. I searched the forums and alot of people had heat shield issues, I checked under my bonnet yesterday and it looks like the guy before me removed the heat shields, there isn't any over the turbo or the exhaust. Does anyone have a idea of what the noise could be? Also the car runs fine and was tuned by asg around 5 weeks ago. Any help would be great! Thanks

Have you seen that ad on TV involving the ear rings and the commodore ? haha maybe could be same scenario except maybe not ear rings in your case.

Could you tell us where the noise is coming from ?

Haha, umm sounds like maybe from the exhaust, like it's a small vibrating noise that goes away once around 4000revs, car sounds alot smoother after that. The rattling sound gets hidden alot with the rumble, like my gf can't hear anything, but I can hear it everytime I drive now lol, I would say the rattling gets louder toward 4000revs but then just goes away

pipe-clamp something to the midpipe, it will change the resonance.

Sorry but don't fully get it? lol so is it something to do with the pipe or the mid muffler? And should I clamp something?

it depends what is rattling! Need to diagnose before you can fix
