Default Darton Sleeves - EJ207

The block I bought has some pitting on the top of the bore (deck) and although I have been told it should not be an issue it is not something I want in the back of my mind every time I mash the foot.

How much stronger will the block be if I sleeve it. I have already been quoted to do the job with 92mm darton flangetop dry sleeves and wanted to know if it will be an advantage. The recearch I have done seems to support doing it but also that the bores can become too stiff?

I know Race Torq have a CNC'd plate that can be droped in to re-inforce the bore but that wont get rid of my problem.

I could buy another block and start again but I already have this one and if sleeving will make it a tougher block than why not. I have a Cosworth 2.2 kit and will be running a twist mount Greddy TD06 pushing as much boost as my topmount will let me.

Everything esle on the car will be done right and the last thing I want is a weakness in the bottom end.

Any info on this people can dig up will be great.

Spending the $1500-2k to sleeve the block is well worth it considering the gear you'll be running. I wouldn't do it without sleeving the block, it's going to make it stronger and give you that little extra piece of mind if you are planning on running some serious boost. Although mine was sleeved (twice).......

Yeah I am pretty much set on sleeving it, just does not seem to be a common thing to do with the 207. The 257's, 205's and full CD blocks theres plenty of info.

Sleeving a 205, 257 or 207 is a similar sort of exercise.. talk to ASG, they seem to know what the go is with sleeving and torque plate honing.

Yeh I guess the 207's are proven to be stronger and have thicker walls so are more reliable than the 257's (which isn't hard) so it's not as common to immediately think about what you can do to strengthen the block so not as many have been done.

It certainly can't hurt to make a strong block stronger can it.

It would be strong as with the sleeves, that hardcore stuff. Are they compatible with stroker kit? Is it just different crank and rods, or are the piston a larger bore too

The sleeves are stock bore size 92mm.

They can however be bored out to 96mm.

Is it inside the bore or on top of the block? If it's the top of the you can get it metal sprayed then remachined. If it's inside the bore sleeve it for sure.
