Default 00 forester running like shit

so i serviced the forester the other day thinking that was the problem, which it wasnt, so i changed the AFM which fixed it a little, and stopped the dodgy idling, but its still laging pretty bad andseems like its missing and back fireing, and sometimes back fireing through the pod, any ideas or sugestions would b great

Is the Air Flow Meter new? I would try doing the upper engine cleaner if you haven't already, but sounds like an ignition system issue, check plugs, leads, coil, in that order.

I Put a new afm in today. And i did plugs and leads last week. And nah it's not a oiled pod. And iv got a new coil in the way. Might try the upper engine cleaner. If not I'll just take it to all star or something. Think it needs a tune anyway. Cheers

did you reset the ecu after installing the new afm?

my00 can't be versoed unfortunately, you will need a replacement ecu or an interceptor like a unichip or haltech

Haven't tried oxygen sensor yet, and yeah I reset the ecu when I did the afm. I might just take it to my mechanic to see what he thinks. Then sort out getting an aftermarket ecu. Any suggestions on a decent one that won't send me to broke?

If you are in Huntingdale, drive up the road to go and see Doug and Damien at STechnic.

Could be another crank angle sensor on the fritz! Along with 100 other things.

i doubt its the 02 sensor, if thats dead it would just be running richer, might get a bit sooty on your rear end & use more juice

but yeah go see doug & get him to read the error codes & yeah could be CAS or knock sensor also

power fc would be the cheapest replacement ecu & will allow you to run a Z32 afm

autronic, link or vipec will allow you to ditch the afm altogether but twice the price of a power fc (i'm running a linkplus G3 personally)
