Question abs light?!

hey guys, just wondering if anyone knows any reason my abs light comes on sometimes? Only when I start the car, maybe every 5th time its started it will light up and stay on? If I stop, turn the car off and on again it will usually go away. To me the brakes dont feel any different or anything?

Cheers

Dan

Do check your brake lights.. Might be a dodgy filament in one of the bulbs causing the abs light to play up. Or if u have muck around changing the brake lights to some LED cluster bulbs, that will definitely throw off the abs light as well.

sounds like the abs electronic module is playing up, i had the problem of the light coming on at startup & then going off as normal, i would reverse out of the driveway & it stayed off, but as soon as i drove forwards it would come on & stay on, if i jumped on the brakes hard it would lock up & skid, swaped the elctronic module in the engine bay & all good now (thanks again corrie)

take it to a dealer and get them to quickly wack on the select monitor and see what it is
sometimes the plugs under the back seat break, or if you/anyone has been under there may have unplugged them by accident
also the sensors can get bits of metal stuck to them and throw the signal off

Ah ok, ill keep those things in mind, ill probably just take it to subaru so they can check it. Does anyone know if rms in carlisle can check it? Might be easier for me to go there.
Thing is with it its not all the time that its on, my mate mentioned having a broken or unplugged sensor but if that was the case the light would be on all the time wouldnt it? Not every 5th or so start up? Im pretty sure my abs still actually works, was able to test it out against my will when a ambulance crossing a redlight almost took me out! Braked pretty hard and it didnt lock up either.

sometimes the plugs dont clip in properly, and they get a dodgy connection, you can cable tie them together so that they hold properly

just searching up my problem...

i have a 99 gf8 wagon, changed to sti tail lights, now abs comes on permanently... plug in the old lights back again, still the same deal... all the lights work on both wrx and sti tail lights... sti tail light has no rear fog lamp if that helps...

any ideas guys, love the new lights but came at cost of a problem!

HA!
As part of my build I replaced my tailgate with the JDM GF8 sti version... as well as replacing my standard 4 pots with AP Racing 6 pots...
Never thought that the tailgate would have anything to do with it.
I always presumed it was the 6 pots wigging it out, or I had busted the sensor whilst shuffling the car around with no wheels over the 2 year process.
Still to this day my ABS light is permanently on.
Hopefully you find out what the deal is.
