Been searching the net and cannot get a clear answer.

Does anyone know the correct torque setting for the ARP Head Studs/bolts?

I believe you do not follow the standard Subaru head bolt procedure, but want to be sure, the correct sequence would also help!!

tighten the studs up in this order,





the factory recommends the following proceedure, i just made the final value 85ftlb and divided the steps into 25ftlb, 60ftlb then 85ftlb, and instead of engine oil, i used the moly lube from the pack.

now do i still need to follow subaru procedure or not, as in 180deg then another 180deg and all that OR do i follow the arp procedure, do 25, 60 then 85 and finish or what? as im still confused...

3 steps to 90ft/lb, so 30ft/lb, then 60ft/lb, then 90ft/lb in the factory sequence, refer to the pic of the cylinder head above.
DO NOT do the factory procedure of tighten, tighten, loosen, loosen, so on. It does not apply to ARP head studs.

Considering how tight the studs get done up. I don't think that reusing them is the best idea. They could snap.
Also, the tension setting is designed to be measured using the ARP moly lube supplied, engine oil on the threads will not give the same reading.

Also. Use of Moly lube Vs 30wt engine oil makes a difference on torque values.

Recommend using ARP moly lube with the ARP studs and follow their instructions.
