Default Possum Bourne Motorsport

Hey guys,

Was having a gander at the Possum Bourne Motorsport Site and noticed they supply shortblock engines, and with the NZD so weak against the AUD... was curious if anybody had purchased one and if it is legal?

Link below..

Apparently will cost around AUD $ 350.00 + Taxes to freight this engine over... FARK YEAH!! They do a 2.0L and a 2.5L Performance model, apparently very popular over here.

Be aware, prices don't include GST.

Considering GST is increasing to 15% in New Zealand shortly that would be annoying!

Still NZD $3800.00 + 15% = NZD $ 4370.00
+ Freight NZD $ 650.00 = NZD $ 4720.00/1.37
AUD $ 3664.23 + GST
AUD $ 4030.65 Inclusive Landed

I think the figure they quoted for freight was conservative so I doubled it.

Wouldn't there be another 10% duty imposed on top?

And what's the benefit of this shortblock over a standard EJ207 shortblock for $2-3k?

Edit: Actually read the link... You get a closed deck + extra stuff in it, so it is good value.

I factored that in already :-) I can get wholesale freight rates as follows:

NZD $ 15.00 Documentation Fee
Freight USD $ 45.00 Per Tonne/m3
Port charges - standard
Clearance/delivery FREE.

They don't mention anything about sleeving. Are you going for a 2.5l? I'd think sleeving would be much higher priority than closed decking in that case.

I can ask... but isn't sleeving really only required if you're running crazy boost levels and over 400hp? I suppose witht he reliabilty of the 2.5L it might be a good idea anyway.

Not bad at all.

Good rods and pistons, closed deck. You'd also assume that its professionally assembled. If you can land that for under $4k, you're doing well.

It's very debateable. Cosworth run their highest powered 2.5s with no sleeves. Others swear by them.

If/when I blow mine up I'd definitly be getting sleeves. It does look like a good deal though. Nice find.
