Default ej's are interference motors yeah ?

Just got home to be told by my olds that the daily "wont start" and that a mobile mechanic has told them its the timing belt.

If I recall correctly, this means if the belt breaks its bent all the valves?

Its a 96 Gen2 with a ej22.

sohc engines are safe to break timing belts.

hence my advise is to never bother servicing the timing belt if the car is a grunter.
