The times have changed and the quality of the rim produced by rota has improved
considerably I believe. There are a lot of examples of track cars running rotas including R35's as Kato mentioned.

There was a pic put up by RhdJapan on their FB page in the last 2 months of a set of the same Rota's that Dave has on the Foz that completely shat themselves and snapped all around the hub area.
****The pic of the explosion is gone but this one of another set of the same model they saw recently, kwality fosho!!!

I'm not saying the rims didn't fall apart, just that they have a reason to highlight one failure.

I know the owner Patrick and he's not like that at all, he was just sharing the 2 recent failures that he'd personally seen plus there are multiple pics all over the web of them exploding, I was more putting it up in response to the statement that they are much better quality now even though there is no official word from Rota to the improvement or lack of quality at any time!

I believe that if the wheel suffers a serious impact. Its really not going to matter if its Rota or a brand name cast alloy wheel.
Forged wheels are stronger and can handle more flex during hard cornering without cracking. They are also more likely to bend and deform in the event of an impact than a cast wheel. Doing a bit of searching around... I have found just as many examples of brand name wheels failing as Rotas.

Those in glass houses cast the first stone.
