Default 2009 WRX Engine Build

Alright Guys, its been a long process but my car is a few weeks off being up and running again

The Car goes into Maximum Motor Sport On 18th April to have the blocks swapped arround and this is how its going to come out.... If there is anything else you guys can recommend such as turbo's or whatever, please post, cause i want everything done when it comes out

2.5L Short block- Cosworth Pistons, Rods, Main and Big end bearings
Heads- fully reconditioned with BC Cams Stage 2 or 3, not sure which ones are idealy better
3" Turbo Back Exhaust
Ecutek
Hyper Flow Induction Kit
K-Sport 8 Piston Brakes Front 13" Rotors
K-Sport 6 Piston Brakes Back 13" Rotors
Tein SS-P Coilovers with EDFC

Can anyone suggest a nice turbo set up to go with, just from experience, i have the stock ih 52, and have feeling that its not going to hold up, and obviously nice inter cooler

Everything in that except

-Ecutek yeah nah

-Why are you putting China Brakes on it. Sti Brembos would fit and be much better.

As for turbo, depends what you want from the car.

Aside from internals, what are you doing to strengthen the block itself?

Need some EL headers in there I think, and TD06, and Motec

EJ255 or EJ257 short block? I'd want the 257 semi closed with the cylinders sleeved.

Fuck those China shits off.. get some pads, rotors and lines until you can afford proper brakes. Not only that, but are you even sure that they'll fit behind your WRX wheels??

From the money saved on not buying the China brakes, upgrade the cooler.. pretty sure Jimmy S has a brand new one for sale that'll fit. TD06 should work well on that setup too, lots of response. GT Pumps make a pretty good one, or try Forced Performance / Blouch out of the USA. Good for 330-340 at the wheels.

Although if you want 400hp at the wheels, you'll have to go with a Garrett GT sized turbo kit.. Full Race make one (and a workshop in Singapore modifies them for RHD use, ask them about it before you buy). You'll then need a FMIC, as it won't fit with the TMIC.

Then you'll have to upgrade your fuel system.. injectors and pump at a minimum.

With 400 at the wheels, gearbox will not like it either.. budget another 5-10k depending on whether you go 6MT conversion or a dog gearset in your 5 speed case.

Either way, put away $30k for all the work above, including your engine, tune, and other bits and pieces.

I didn't think the EJ255 block was any different to EJ257?? It's the heads that are different between WRX and STi.

Pre '08 there were a lot of differences between the 2 blocks and internals in each. I don't know a lot about the newer models though.
Are both wrx and sti dual avcs in 09+ models?
